LIFE BEYOND REASON (2025)
Life Beyond Reason begins with a ski crash, sparking a series of life-changing events in the relatively stable life of Kevin, a middle-aged lawyer who put aside his dreams at the start of his career with the promise that one day he’d come back to them. Starting with a vision of a revolutionary theatre production, Kevin throws himself into a series of impossibilities that finally lead him to face a deep truth about who he is and why impossible beckons him so strongly. Based on a true story, Life Beyond Reason draws a compelling picture of mania, obsession, and hope in hopeless situations.
Life Beyond Reason is a play I wrote, produced, and directed about my father’s journey with MS. It uses the original music we composed for Not This Day!, a multimedia performance that we tried to produce in 2007/8 (though ultimately never saw the stage except in a sneak preview format), and original songs composed and sung by my father. It premiered in Westcliffe, Colorado, in August 2025, in front of my father and many of his friends from various points during the journey.
